I’m a firm believer that having an Attitude of Gratitude makes you happier, more joyful, and you experience more love and contentment in life.

It’s PROVEN.

In fact, gratitude creates positive psychological, social, and physical effects! Gratitude creates happiness, increased positive emotions and enhanced moods, increases empathy, builds stronger relationships, strengthens your immune system, and decreases pain, depression, and anxiety.

Heck – I’ll for all of that!

But wait – there’s more: Gratitude is not just something you practice when life is going well. It’s vital to give thanks when things are NOT going well.

Sounds crazy, right? Hear me out.

Giving thanks and practicing gratitude even when life’s throwing handfuls of lemons your way (or maybe that’s piles of doggie doo doo hitting the fan), is vital to helping us overcome the obstacles we are facing.

In fact, according to Ryan Fehr, a world-renowned expert on gratitude:

“Research shows that gratitude can help us cope with traumatic events, regulate our negative emotions, and improve our well-being. More importantly, gratitude can have a positive effect on our friends and family, too. It’s a small way to have a meaningful impact.”

How do you practice gratitude?

As we are in the week of Thanksgiving, it’s important we start to flex our gratitude muscle.

Here are some ideas to put into practice:

  1. Start a gratitude journal: Every day, write down 3-5 things you are grateful for. Make them different every day.
  2. Write a thank you note: Tell someone or to several people you appreciate them and why.
  3. Talk about your gratitude: Start conversations with friends, family, colleagues, and others about gratitude. Encourage others to share along with you. (Psst! This is a fantastic Thanksgiving-table discussion topic!)
  4. Reflect: Take time to consider the gifts and opportunities in all situations, circumstances, and relationships in your life.
  5. Rinse & Repeat!

As we enter this week of Thanksgiving, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for YOU.
