Kicking off the New Year with your January Budget

I absolutely love this time of year and enjoy spending time reflecting on the past year. It’s been a big one for me with some rather large life changes, lots of growth, and sprinkles of miracles along the way.

As we start to look at the finish line to 2024 and the start of 2025, I’m reminded to create my January Budget! We’ll go over what to include shortly.

Back to our January Budget, here’s what to include:

  • New Year’s Calendars and Planners – If you’re like me, you love paper and writing down your plans and goals.
  • Increased Utilities – The heat is up and the (gas) fireplace is on!
  • Q1 Estimated Taxes – Q4 2024 Estimated Taxes are due on January 15th.
  • 2024 Taxes & Tax Prep – If you’re likely to owe taxes, it’s time to start saving to pay Uncle Sam AND your tax pro for preparing your taxes for you.
  • Gym Memberships – New Year’s Resolutions to get fit are back and so is that gym membership and other new year’s goals.
  • Annual Expenses – pay attention to start of the year subscriptions and annual expenses like car registrations and more.
  • Christmas – y’all, don’t let holiday expenses sneak up on you AGAIN. Plan ahead and save yourself from the holiday hangover by budgeting for it now.

Pro-Tip: Always add items that are specific-to-you items such as birthdays, anniversaries, travel, and more.
