How Free is the Most Expensive Financial Decision You Can Make

by Angie Carlson |

After TWENTY-FIVE YEARS of trying to solve this financial challenge on their own

Using the knowledge THEY had

Outside help was required.

Here’s what happened when we worked together:

Clients came to me with one big pain point –

Evicting the student loan (who was named “the mistress”) from their life.

You see, she married a wonderful man… who had student loan debt.

She said, “Every day since I’ve married him, I felt like I married two people.”

(That’s a really crappy wedding day memory.)

I let them know that I would help them get the highest possible odds for loan forgiveness – but that final part was in the hands of the Dept. of Ed.

We got to work.

I immediately recognized one MAJOR problem – the loan was in the wrong status for the forgiveness program.

Which their loan servicer NEVER told them.

Current odds for forgiveness: ZERO

Odds if they took the steps I gave them: FRACTION OF ONE PERCENT

In other words, HOPE.

Our session was on a Tuesday, and they said they would do the homework over the weekend.

I rarely tell my clients what to do – in this case I told them to do it IMMEDIATELY after our call.

And told them that I expected a lot of people to apply, and I suspected the Dept. of Ed would shut down applications early or change the program qualifications.

Something I had seen happen SEVERAL TIMES during my decade in financial aid.

They emailed me all the documents Tuesday night showing they did the work.

Guess what happened on Thursday?

Yup – the application process was shut down.

Clients were so thankful that I pushed them to do it immediately – they would have been DEVASTATED if there was a chance to have their loan forgiven and missed it.

Then we coached on other topics while we waited to see what happened with the loan.

About a year later, I received an early morning phone call from them.

My eardrum nearly ruptured from the screaming.

“Angie, guess what happened?  We got an email from the Dept. of Ed and it said our loan balance is ZERO!!!!  Our marriage no longer has a mistress!”

$27,000 of student loan debt GONE (They had paid back more than DOUBLE that amount.)

I was so happy for them.

Months later, the practical side of my brain decided to look up how many people received student loan forgiveness through this particular program.

It was ONE in FIVE HUNDRED.

A fraction of one percent, just like I had said in the beginning.

This is why I say – I will GUIDE you to results, not GET you the result.

  • They hired me to find the gap in the process they missed doing it on their own (loan type)
  • They did the work to have a shot at loan forgiveness (complete an application)
  • God ensured the miracle happened (the loan got forgiven)

(Read the order of those last three steps again.)

NONE OF THIS would have happened without us working together.

And miracles like this happen with my clients that show up, apply the coaching and do the work

EVERY

SINGLE

TIME.

And while I can’t predict your specific miracle working with me – I know it’s happening.

The longer you tell yourself that you can’t “afford” to work with me:

  • The money you spend to figure it out for “free” will be more than my coaching investment (if it’s not already)
  • The time you’ll spend away from your spouse and kids will NEVER come back (have you ever put a price on that?)
  • The thought of “getting my finances together isn’t possible for me” will continue to be your reality.

STOP settling for your current financial reality and work with me to get the one you keep dreaming of.

STOP settling for the “free” advice because it’s the MOST EXPENSIVE INVESTMENT you can make.
