The Downside Of Doing Everything “Right” With Your Money

Angie Carlson |

I talked to a couple, and my heart broke.

They did everything “right” with their money:
* Followed all of Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps
* Made smart money moves
* Multi-million net-worth

But they felt scared.

They asked me:
“What does Dave say to do with our money now that we are on Baby Step 7?”

(For those of you that don’t know, Baby Step 7 is to live and give like no one else.)

They wanted to follow the rules perfectly.
They were afraid one mistake would make them lose everything.

They didn’t know what to do.

“How much is too much for _.”

“Why are the Baby Steps no longer clear?”

“Do we put 40% in retirement and build a second vacation home? Or invest 60% instead?”

Even if they built the house, they worried:
* Is $40K too much for the kitchen?
* Should we get deals or buy new stuff?
* What if we hate the house later?

We talked about why they wanted the house.
The memories they wanted to make there.

And I told them:
No one can tell you what your dream life should look like—not even me. Not even Dave Ramsey.

The problem?
It’s easy to know what to do when you want to pay off debt or save $20,000.
It’s HARD to know if you’re living your best life.

* There’s no checklist for that. *

(That’s why step 1 of the Agree & Achieve Method is to get clear on all of this.)

The truth?

You have to decide what matters most to YOU.

But when you have too many good options, the clarity is gone & it’s easy to overthink everything and choose something.

That’s where I come in.

I help couples enjoy their wealth without the guilt no matter what decision they make.

This couple?

They left our call determined to find Dave-approved percentages.

I get it.

They saw the Baby Steps the only reason they are good with money

AND

I know they will not enjoy their $5 million OR their life in Baby Step 7 until they stop trying to find (nonexistent) percentages to follow and start owning their money decisions.

If you’re tired of overthinking and wondering if you’re “doing it right”…

It’s time for you both to trust yourselves and each other.

Let’s make decisions you won’t regret—and build the life you’ve earned.
