Please, God, Can I Have Another

When I was in college, I had a friend who joined the Marines. He was a tough guy. I would visit with him when he was on leave. He would tell me what life was like serving: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

No matter what the adversity or hardship, he had the same attitude: “please sir, can I have another?!” Whether it was the rigors of Boot Camp, or punishment push-ups for some infraction, his response was always, “Please, sir, can I have another!?”

You know that’s a winning attitude.

It’s an attitude I have chosen to adopt regardless of what life brings. Whatever God sends my way, my response is “Please, God, can I have another?” The good, the bad, and the ugly all get equal treatment. This way I know I will end up on top.

Just give me more. I can deal with it.
